What Crazy + Facebook Equals:

MOUNTAIN CITY, Tenn. — A father who was upset after a Tennessee couple deleted his adult daughter as a friend on Facebook has been charged in the shooting deaths of the couple, authorities said Wednesday.

There’s a good deal to take away from this, so I’ll distill it to the three main points that I get from it:

  • “Facebook Friends” are not synonymous with “Friends.”  It’s like how a Rectangle IS a Square, but a Square IS NOT necessarily a Rectangle.
  • Taking things said on Facebook or any other social networking media overly seriously, whether it be insults, slights, jabs, or other perceived attacks should be taken with a grain of salt.  That includes being ‘defriended.’
  • Nothing good comes out of Tennessee.  Ever.

Sigh.  It’s only February.
